Are you using your black BE San Francisco tote bag? Have you put the bumper sticker or decal on your car or laptop? How about the attractive BE San Francisco water bottle or traveling coffee mug? By now the Membership Team hopes that everyone has received one of these free promotional items. Some of you also attended training/learning sessions with Rabbi Mark to read and discuss texts that represent two of our synagogue’s chief characteristics: welcoming the stranger and building and preserving community. How do these values relate to tote bags and water bottles?
As described in earlier articles about the grant-funded Federation-Synagogue Partnership Project, B’nai Emunah has launched a project to increase awareness of our synagogue and what makes us special. You, our members, as you carry the tote bags, water bottles, and travel mugs and display the bumper stickers, are helping to increase visibility of B’nai Emunah. We hope you’ll exchange a few words with folks who ask what is BE San Francisco? Tell them about our community, our school, adult classes and programs, Sisterhood, book group, potluck shabbat, annual retreats and Shabbatons, and all the things about us that you find special. Your words may encourage them to check us out.
Phase two hopes to build on phase one by asking you to take photos of yourself using the tote bags and other items. We want to capture you in action with the BE San Francisco message so we can put these photos (with your permission of course) on the website, the blog, and the synagogue’s Facebook page. Even better if you use some of these photos on your own Facebook or Linked In webpages. This is another way of spreading the word, getting our “face” out there in the broader community. Please send digital photos to Gabriele Lange, who maintains our blog and Facebooks pages or to Jeff Dielle who maintains the website.
