Dr. Neil Risch to Speak on Genetic Disease and the Jewish Population

Dr. Neil Risch will be speaking at B’nai Emunah on Sunday, March 17, at 3:30 PM.  Neil is a longtime member of the congregation and a regular gabbai at Saturday morning services.

I heard Neil speak at B’nai Emunah on this subject 9 years ago and I was fascinated by the breadth and depth of his knowledge.  I am very much interested in a refresher and in hearing what’s new in the field.

Our book group last year read the Thirteenth Tribe, which postulated a theory that most Eastern European Jews are descendants of Turkish Chazars.  I plan to ask Neil to “debunk” this myth.
