I am honored to serve as your president for the next year. Most of you know me but maybe some might wonder about my past experience. As you know I have been Sisterhood president/head of the Sisterhood Leadership Team a long time and have been a Board member for three terms, serving as second VP and first VP. I chair the synagogue’s Membership Committee and I’m an active member of the Bikkur Cholim Committee. In my pre-retired life I worked for 30+ years as a college librarian, serving as assistant director and department head at three different university/college libraries. Now two+ years into retirement I pursue my triple passions of music (studying cello and playing in a trio for fun, along with taking jazz singing lessons); writing and reading children’s literature; and volunteering (I volunteer at a community garden, help kids with homework at an after school program, and volunteer at Muttville for senior rescue dogs). I also continue Mussar practice/study (Jewish ethics) and do yoga almost daily.
The goals/priorities for the 2013/2014 year include:
1. Improving communications from the Board to members and obtaining more feedback from members.
2. Reviewing and possibly revising the membership dues process/procedures in order to collect dues in a timely manner. Charge the Membership Committee with exploring other membership/dues options.
3. Reviewing committee charges and work with the idea of revitalizing the Finance Committee, Fundraising Committee and the Ritual Committee with some specific projects. Also arrange for targeted leadership training opportunities for Board members/committee chairs.
I hope you will share with me, or other members of the Board, your ideas and comments.
