Two by Two to the Zoo

On a brilliant October day children and parents of the new joint venture Sunday school, called B3 (which consists of families from B’nai Emunah and  Beth Israel Judea), set out to discover the animals at the San Francisco Zoo through the lens of a biblical scavenger hunt.

After studying the history of Noah’s ark in the weeks leading up to this activity, students were now let loose to find biblical animals such as the dove, lion, sheep, and snake. The older kids were asked to identify which characteristic each represents (naivité, deceit, peace, bravery). Other themes were conservation efforts made by the zoo, and how human activity such as wars impact animal habitat.

The grand finale was the feeding of life fish to the Grizzly bear sisters.  Our large crowd spiked the interest of many zoo visitors who inquired more information about us.
